Recently, users have reported fake letters supposedly sent by Europol, EC3, or other law enforcement agencies. These letters all contain the same message: they all claim that you allegedly possess child pornography, child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or that you have perpetrated exhibitionism or other similar crimes. Needless to say, these messages are all scams, as real law enforcement agencies never contact people like that. To establish that the letter is illegitimate, check the sender’s email address. If it doesn’t end with a legit organization’s domain (like europol.eu, interieur.gouv.fr, fbi.gov), you can be sure that the letter is a scam. You can also get in touch with your local law enforcement agency if you need help.
Additionally, never contact the email address provided in the letter, or pay any money to the letter’s sender. They are often operating from countries where it is impossible to locate them.
You can find more information on how to establish the legitimacy of a letter on Europol's website .
